AWCL No Show Policy American Women's Club has a "no show policy". This means, if you have reserved a place for an event and do not show, or have not canceled before the reservation deadline, you will still be charged for the event. The reason for this policy is simply... we still have to pay the vendor even if you do not attend. We reserve a place for you, per your request, and we place orders for you from the vendors and for food. If you do not show, the vendor/food will not be refunded to us and cannot be absorbed by the membership. We want you to come and enjoy our events, but please understand that a reservation is a commitment. Thank you for your understanding! AWCL Treasurer

The hikes are done on Friday mornings and generally take between one and a half to two hours. All hikes are pre-walked by the hiking team, so we can answer any question on all routes. Just call! The pace is brisk! You will need to bring water and perhaps a snack. Dogs are welcome on a leash, but the hikes are not suitable for strollers or pushcarts. You can carpool with other hikers to the designated meeting spots, if desired. Often following the hike, there is an optional coffee or lunch. It is a good idea to bring an extra pair of shoes and a warm sweater for afterwards, as inclement weather is part of the adventure of living here. Ladies Luncheon DelightCome and relax with us at our “Luncheons”. Once a month we try a different restaurant in the Luxembourg Ville area. It’s one of those special occasions in which members have the opportunity to interact face-to-face with other members they wouldn’t have otherwise, due to different schedules we all have. So, please, c’mon down and join us on this exciting and relaxing activity!. Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This very active group can be a lifesaver for you when you move to Luxembourg with small children not yet in school! The Moms & Tots group maintains two babysitting lists available to any AWCL member: (1) AWCL Babysitting List (paid babysitters referred by members); (2) Mothers-Helping-Mothers List (list of mothers willing to help each other on a voluntary basis). We have no set book that you are required to read. Instead, we swap and borrow paperbacks from our group members. We discuss what we have been reading, introducing each other to new authors, genres, and titles. We also share travel tips and explore your adventures locally and abroad. We nibble on a variety of tasty recipes made by our members and exchange recipes via email. The “Potpourri” part of our title is based on the color and textures of our lives- meaning that whatever interests you or is important to you is never too trivial for us to talk about. After all, we are here to give you a place that helps you to belong and that makes you feel comfortable in your new home of Luxembourg. Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ScrapbookingDo you have a shoebox full of vacation pictures, pictures from the last birthday party or summer visitors to Luxembourg? The Scrapbooking Club is a friendly group who work on getting all those pictures in a photo album or scrapbook. We meet once a month at the clubhouse to share ideas and crop the pictures into our albums. It is a relaxing and stress free environment where creative ideas are bounced around. Because of limited working space, we can have only eight people working at a time; so reservations are essential. Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it TennisHaven't played tennis since high school or college? Don't worry! Most of us started out that way and it's amazing how you do improve once you start playing again! Complete beginner? or...Pretty good player? No problem! The Tennis Club is a great way to get out and have a fun game of tennis while meeting some new people (the exercise doesn't do any harm either). We book our indoor courts for every Thursday morning at the Kockelscheuer Sports Center located just outside Luxembourg City. Cost averages a very reasonable EUR 150 per person for the whole season, which begins the first week of October and continues through May and sometimes June. We play doubles and/or singles, have players of all levels and have even arranged lessons for beginner groups. So, don't hesitate to ask for more information! Sign-up for the Tennis Club takes place at the September or October (latest) Brunch Meeting. We do ask for a commitment for the season, as we pay the courts in advance in October, but it is possible to join later in the year if space is available. If you can't make it once in awhile it is no problem as long as you let someone know in advance. If you cannot commit to play every week, then you may sign up as a substitute or alternate with another member. Hope you will join this terrific group!
