Tour of the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial

Wednesday, May 9 at 10 am

The Director of the Cemetery has graciously offered a guided tour for the members of AWCL. She will review the battle maps, discuss the walls of soldier names, share stories about some of the soldiers, and explain the identification process of the unknown soldiers.  Time will be allowed for individual exploration and to visit General Patton's grave.

With 50 acres containing the remains of over 5,000 American service men, many of whom gave their lives during the Battle of the Bulge, this is a meaningful site for all to visit.

The tour will last 90 minutes and attendees should dress for weather and terrain as we will walk through the plots of grass.

Immediately following, we will drive to the nearby German war cemetery, just 1.5 km away in Sandweiler, where the Germans who fell during the same battle are buried.  No formal tour is planned at this site.

Anyone interested in joining the outing should respond promptly to This email address is being protected from spambots. The AWCL is a non-profit, volunteer-run group serving women in Luxembourg and the surrounding region. Members of the AWCL support each other as expats as they make their way through living in the Grand Duchy. All sorts of activities are offered and organized, for all ages. The AWCL has its own Clubhouse: a place where we meet, socialize and offer language classes. As a club, we also work to help the less fortunate in our own community and around the world, so many philanthropic activities and events are part of our annual program.
