Merci Melanie, merci to all the crew of Land's End

Trick of Treat in October 2007 UNICEF Boxes Raise 702 euros!

Today, Halloween means more than candy, costumes, ghosts, and goblins. It means vaccines, clean water, and improved nutrition for less fortunate children. It means educating our children about the importance of multi-culturalism and community values. "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" is a full-year program that provides youth leadership opportunities even after Halloween.

The European Volunteer Centre (CEV)
is a European umbrella association of 43 National and Regional Volunteer Centres across Europe, that together work to support and promote voluntary activity.
CEV channels the collective priorities and concerns of its member organisations to the institutions of the European Union. It also acts as a central forum for the exchange of policy, practice and information on volunteerism. It supports networking among its members and organises conferences, seminars, workshops and other activities such as research.

Can you help ENVOL?

On Saturday, March 31, 2007 members of the AWC of Paris were doing volunteer work in ENVOL, a non-profit organisation set up 10 years ago and situated in the forest of Fontainebleau (near Paris).

ENVOL aims to provide a European medicalized recreation center to welcome children and adolescents suffering from malignant or chronic diseases for 9-12 day stays.

The project is supported by Paul Newman, who founded the first center in Connecticut named "The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp", he is the honorary president.

ENVOL ( which means "flying off") aims ambitiously at reconciling children with life and at restoring strength and eagerness to fight against their disease or the scars of the disease.  Social Security partly supports the cost of a stay by the application form E112;  for the rest, private funding is needed.

How can one help?  By buying Newman Own products;  by making a donation;  by coming to ENVOL;  by doing all kinds of volunteer work which is needed;  by assisting the professionals as volunteer in a session.
