Calling
all girls - aged 14-15
Do you have a child
that is interested in human rights and social justice who will be going into the
equivalent of 10th or 11th grade?
If so, you should encourage her to apply for
the unique two week
Eleanor Roosevelt
Girls' Leadership Workshop
which will be held near
Hyde Park, New York next summer.
The program is
designed for serious students who "demonstrate a commitment to volunteer
service, citizenship and social justice."
It is designed to develop self-esteem,
confidence and to promote leadership skills for the participants.
It consists of
interactive workshops, seminars and panel discussions with accomplished women
who are practitioners in the field.
Two days are planned for a trip to the
United Nations headquarters in New York City.
In
honor of the 60th anniversary of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights
(UDHR) and
Eleanor's Roosevelt's key role in the development and passage of the
UDHR, FAWCO
(Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas) is pleased to
sponsor a child to go to
the Eleanor Roosevelt Girls' Leadership
Workshop.
For more information
about the program, you may check out the website at www.ervk.org.
Please note that the 2008 dates and application form
will only be available after mid- December.
