Who May Enter:

All students attending their last year of secondary school in Luxembourg may enter.

What to Do:

Write an essay, of no more than 500 words, in English on the following topic: 

What is your educational aspiration?  What do you hope to accomplish with this goal?  How will this help society?

DO NOT write your name on the actual essay.  Include a cover page with your name, birth date, address, phone number, email address, year in school, and your school name.

How to Enter:

You may send entries as email attachments to awcluxembourg@vol.lu.  Please designate "Mary Elvinger Scholarship" on the email "subject line."

You may also mail a hard copy, or drop it off in person to:

Open to Students attending their last year of secondary studies in Luxembourg

     Sponsor:  American Women's Club of Luxembourg

  1. ELIGIBILITY:  The American Women's Club of Luxembourg "Mary Elvinger Scholarship" contest ("the Contest") is open only to students currently enrolled in the last year of secondary studies in the country of Luxembourg, as of March 1st, 2008.  Limit of one entry per student.  Entries in excess of this limit will be deemed void.  The Sponsor will verify the winner's eligibility.
  1. HOW TO ENTER:  Entrants must write an essay in English, of no more than 500 words, on the following topic:  What is your educational aspiration?  What do you hope to accomplish with this goal?  How will this help society?

Entrants should NOT write their names on the actual essay. Include a cover page with your name, birth date, address, phone number, email address, year in school, and school name.

Entrants should email their submissions to: awcluxembourg@vol.lu  Please designate the "subject" line with
"Mary Elvinger Scholarship."

Entries must arrive no later than May 3rd, 2008.

3.  By entering, Entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements.  The Winner agrees to read their essay at the June monthly meeting of the American Women's Club of Luxembourg. This essay will be printed in the sponsor's newsletter, "The Grapevine".  The submission of materials to the Sponsor is solely the responsibility of the entrant. The sponsor is not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, incomplete, incorrect, delayed, late, interrupted, illegible, misdirected, or postage-due entries.  The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any computer, telephone, cable, network, satellite, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, availability, or disqualify any entrant corrupting the administration, security or proper conduct of the Contest.  All entries     become the property of the Sponsor, and shall not be returned. 

  1.  PRIZE:  The sole winner of the Contest shall receive a 1000 Euros Scholarship award.  Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.  Any expenses, such as taxes, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
  1. DETERMINATION OF WINNER:  Essays will be judged on a scale of 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent) by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:  Persuasiveness (1/3); Creativity (1/3); and Suitability (1/3).  The Sponsor shall notify the winner in May by telephone and/or email.  The Winner shall receive their prize during the American Women's Club of Luxembourg June monthly meeting.  The Winner agrees to read their essay during this monthly meeting.
  1. PRIVACY:  Personal information submitted in connection with the Contest shall not be used for any other purpose other than to verify entrant eligibility and to contact the winner.  The winner's name, essay content and school shall be used for publicity purposes. 
  1. DISCLAIMER:  In no event will the Sponsor be responsible or liable for damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your participation in the contest.
