All of the Best to the Best

For a Warm and Happy Holiday Season

From The FAWCO Foundation

Dear “Friends of The FAWCO Foundation”,

As the year draws to a close, The FAWCO Foundation Board would like to thank you for your generous and loyal support as a "Friend of The FAWCO Foundation".  As President of The FAWCO Foundation and Annual Giving Fundraising Director, it is our pleasure to update you on what has happened during The Foundation’s 40th Anniversary Year (1967-2007).

* The 40th Anniversary of FAWCO’s philanthropic “heart” was celebrated in style at the 2007 Lyon Conference by “Painting the Town Rouge”.  We are pleased to announce that as of 2007, nearly $1 million has gone back to Member Clubs and their members by way of Development Grants and Educational Awards.

* The Development Grant Program
had a record number of nominations this year.  Member Clubs showed their support as over 70% voted to select the 2007 DGs! Based on the importance that Clubs have placed on the DG Program, a new DG for "Ending HIV/Aids” has been added to the 2008 program. All 2008 DGs are either fully sponsored or sponsored in part by Member Clubs.

* The Educational Awards Program had a record number of applications in 2007 and we are hoping for the same results in 2008.   38 Club Members and children of members applied for the nine 2007 Awards.  Two new awards, the Professor J.V. Rice Memorial Award for Advanced Studies and the Mary Mag Hasse Memorial Award for Asian Studies will be presented at the Seoul 2008 Conference.

* The Kids Help Certificate Program raised $18,000 for the “Hole Lotta Fun Boxes” campaign and donations to two new Hole in The Wall camps in France and Italy during 2006-2007. Kids Help is currently promoting the joint 2007-2008 FAUSA & Foundation Kids Help “School Supplies” project.  By purchasing a $15 Kids Help Certificate, you will be part of a campaign to provide school supplies & backpacks for children in some of the poorest areas of Bogotá, Colombia.

 * The 2006-2007 FAWCO Foundation Global Concern Fund
campaign officially ended at the 2007 Lyon Conference with a symbolic presentation of an ever increasing check for $50,000 to BioVision representatives Dr. Peter Luethy and Stephan Gisi (see FORUM Summer 2007) for Bio Vision’s projects to eradicate malaria.  Many clubs and individuals continue their focus on the eradication of malaria by contributing to these ongoing projects and programs.

* 2008 Quilt Raffle Tickets pre-Conference special offer!  Everyone wants a Raffle Ticket and this year it is easier than ever!  Coming soon…  Pre-order & Pre-purchase Raffle Ticket information and instructions available on The Foundation website at www.fawcofoundation.org "The Land of the Morning Calm” quilt theme honors and celebrates our 2008 Conference Host country, Korea. You do not have to be present to be the very lucky winner!

We thank you again for your support and generosity in 2007.  As you consider your philanthropic priorities this holiday season, we hope you will include The FAWCO Foundation in your plans.  Please visit www.fawcofoundation.org/donations   or contact Annual Giving Fundraising Director Sylvia Berhman at annualgiving@fawcofoundation.org  to continue your support of The FAWCO Foundation.
