Hotels

Hotels in Europe tend to be smaller than in North America. A double room generally has one double bed. An extra bed may be added, space permitting.

Not all hotel rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Check when making reservations.

Electrical outlets vary within Europe. You can find adapters for hairdryers and other small appliances in stores selling electrical appliances. Many hotels provide hairdryers in the rooms. Call ahead to save space in your suitcase.

Phone jacks also vary. Adapters for your laptop are available at computer supply stores and airport stores.

When traveling by train, contact Gare Information for special rates. Visitors from the United States or other European countries should inquire in their home country as to the possibility of cheap travel on trains.

When traveling with pets, make sure your hotel or other rented accommodation allows pets. Usually there is an extra charge. Always take vaccination certificates.

This list is compiled from the National Tourist Office and personal recommendations and uses the Benelux Hotel Star Classification system. Studios and apartments (with kitchen facilities) are noted where possible. Price range for a double room with bath or shower:
